It’s simple.

Every child deserves to be loved.

“The greatest thing we can do is to let people know that they are loved and capable of loving.”

— Mr. Rogers

At SimpleLife Preschool we know that early childhood is a precious time for children to gain a love of learning. Every day at our nature based, Ogden preschool we are nurturing children’s innate capacity for creativity, curiosity and compassion for themselves, others and our earth.

I fell in love with Simple Life upon discovering their Instagram. When opportunity presented itself  to apply to be a teacher there I jumped at the chance. I was immediately impressed by their values and philosophies and the love for the children. I find early childhood education to be one of the most rewarding experiences and jobs I am so thankful to experience. Helping children grow is a true passion of mine and brings joy in my life every day.

Maisie Barriga: Teacher

I grew up and have lived in and around the Salt Lake City area.  I really love costume making and design. I make my costumes from scratch as much as I can and am learning new skills for it all the time! Sewing, wig making/styling, foam work for armor and props, and of course makeup including some special effects makeup. I also love reading and am working to learn crochet! I took ballet for 16 years, starting at age 2, and added in jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and ballroom as I got older. I’m passionate about accessibility. I’ve experienced first hand how hard proper accessibility is to come by, even when it’s implemented. I want to change the misunderstood views on neurodiversity and encourage more people to fight for proper accessibility!

I love nature. I grew up spending my summers on the lake or kayaking down rivers and rapids. I love anything to do with the water - sailing, swimming, paddle boarding, wake surfing etc. We’d go on hikes and my aunt taught me rock climbing and cliff jumping. I enjoy growing and eating fruits and vegetables from the garden.

  • Nanny/Independent Childcare

  • Dance Instructor Kaleidoscope Dance Studio & DF Dance

SimpleLife inspires me because I see the love all of the teachers have for what they do and I can tell it reaches the kids. There’s so much positive energy here and I can really see in the kids how it can effect their outlook on life. I want to teach children that every feeling is okay. I want to teach them to advocate for themselves, but most importantly I want to show them that they are loved just the way they are and no matter what. I'm so lucky to get to be part of the team making that difference!

Sushi Preysz: Teacher

I learned from a young age the healing power of being immersed in nature.  Growing up in rural southern Minnesota, miles away from neighbors, schools, and playgrounds, nature became my classroom and teacher.   When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and our dog, hiking the beautiful trails of the Wasatch, kayaking, playing ukulele, cooking, and studying homeopathy.

  • University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire Bachelors of Science, minor in Environmental Science

  • Greenwood Charter School, Substitute Teacher

  • Point Blue Conservation Science, K-12 Program Coordinator

  • Private Tennis Instructor, Minnesota

SimpleLife Preschool provides a haven for young children to thrive and experience the wonderment we all seek to learn from and nourish us. In Richard Louv’s book, The Last Child in the Woods, he so aptly coined the term “Nature-deficit Disorder”.  These immersive experiences in the wild have become increasingly more difficult to find in urban and populated areas.  I am humbled to be a part of SimpleLife School, supporting students in building connections, inquiry, and mindfulness through nature and art.

Missy Schunck: Teacher

I moved to Utah when I was 12 years old with my Dad, Mom and 2 older sisters. Other than the fun I have at work, I love spending time with my family and snuggling up with my dogs, Mochi and Zorro and taking them for long walks. I’m a bit of an old soul who enjoys the little things in life like having picnics in the fresh air, listening to music and watching movies with friends. One of my favorite places away from home is going to the beach because I love swimming, exploring the ocean and sitting in the warm sand with a good book. I have a passion for helping others, volunteer work, baking, crafting and writing poetry.

I am so honored to be working at Simple Life. As soon as I met Jenny and was shown the Simple Life way I immediately felt at home. From a very young age I’ve always thrived when spending time with children and known that I’d end up working with them. Just as Simple Life teaches, I love to get to know each child personally and watch them grow in their own unique way. I am passionate about teaching children in a loving and comfortable environment where they are able to be themselves. Nothing is more rewarding than being able to help a child grow in such an important stage of their lives!
